Pumps for descaling systems
Pumps and pumping stations – Power with reserves
A new SCHÄFER & URBACH development for descaling systems is the 5-cylinder inline plunger pump. The advantage of 5-cylinder inline plunger pumps over conventional 3-cylinder pump systems is that they markedly (by 50 %) reduce the magnitude of the speed droop by 50 %. The speed droop is a measure of the variations of the volumetric flow rate of a pump. The 5-cylinder machine operates more smoothly than a 3-cylinder system and significantly reduces the pressure pulses in closed pipe systems. Pulsation dampeners, if necessary, can thus be realized in a much simpler and less costly design.
The Quintuplex pump can be installed in a space saving manner, vertically or horizontally. The operating range of the pump is between 300 and 500 bar at a pumping capacity between 300 and 2,000 l/min. Moreover it is equipped with a special lifting device (patent pending) for the suction valve in the pump head, enabling smooth switching during pressure-less circulation. Separate switching valves requiring additional maintenance effort are thus completely dispensed with.
